Under the slogan “Our Libraries: Past, Present, Future,” the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Library Foundation organized the inaugural edition of the Dubai International Library Conference 2024 (DILC 2024). This prestigious event, took place from 15 to 17 November, became a cornerstone on the international library conference circuit, celebrating the sharing of information and knowledge.
In its first edition, DILC 2024 gathered specialists, professionals, and experts in the library sector from around the globe. Participants shared insights, experiences, and the latest advancements in the field of library and information sciences.
Founded in 2016 during the National Year of Reading, the library is the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Supporting Dubai and the goals of the UAE to develop a knowledge based society, the creation of the Mohammed bin Rashid Library follows a number of important initiatives set in motion to promote and encourage reading, literacy and Arabic literature.
To stimulate a passion for knowledge, by providing access for all to outstanding resources, quality services and the preservation of Arabic Culture and heritage. MBRL actively supports and encourages reading, research, creativity, and entrepreneurship.

The conference will feature a series of unique workshops, seminars, lectures, and discussion sessions led by academics and experts. These sessions will cover topics such as the preservation and restoration of archives, advancements in library systems and programs, intellectual property and copyright laws, the integration of artificial intelligence, sustainable libraries, and the role of charity in ensuring access to books, amongst others.
